Sip, Stretch, and Say Namaste at Rogue Roundabout: A Beer Yoga Series

Beer yoga offers a blend of relaxation and socialization, creating a unique wellness experience. The combination of beer and yoga promotes a sense of community and enjoyment in physical fitness, making it accessible to those who might find traditional yoga settings daunting. It's an innovative way to experience mindfulness and exercise while enjoying a laid-back, social atmosphere.

Who would have thought beer and yoga could be a winning combination? In recent years, this unique pairing has surged in popularity, with beer yoga classes popping up in cities nationwide, attracting diverse groups of enthusiasts eager to explore this unique concept.

"Beer yoga is a yoga hybrid, created in the United States around 2013, in which participants practice yoga at breweries or taprooms, drinking beer during or after practice," recalls Amanda Castillo. "I went to a beer yoga class in another city and thought it was so much fun." Castillo is the member experience manager for the Conway Regional Health and Fitness Center. She has been a certified yoga instructor for 20 years and knows the classes can be intimidating.

Conway Regional Health and Fitness Center teamed up with the Rogue Roundabout this winter to offer beer yoga classes. "Namaste at The Rogue Roundabout: A Beer Series" offered three yoga classes held at the Rogue Roundabout, each offering special extras, including a flight of beer, a pint and charcuterie box, or brunch. The response was so positive that a brand-new concept, a Sip & Cycle class, has been scheduled for Sunday, January 21, followed by a second series of beer yoga on Saturdays, February 17, March 9, and March 30.

Beer yoga offers a blend of relaxation and socialization, creating a unique wellness experience. Beer, known for its relaxing properties, can help participants loosen up, making them more receptive to yoga's physical and mental benefits. This combination promotes a sense of community and enjoyment in physical fitness, making it accessible to those who might find traditional yoga settings daunting. It's an innovative way to experience mindfulness and exercise while enjoying a laid-back, social atmosphere.

Beer yoga was not possible in Conway until the Rogue Roundabout microbrewery and restaurant opened last year. "If Chris and Jessica Smith had not opened this beautiful microbrewery and restaurant, we would not have had an opportunity for beer yoga," said Castillo. "They are perfect partners with the community."

"One of our goals at The Rogue Roundabout is to create unique experiences in Downtown Conway, which is why this partnership with Conway Regional is perfect," said Jessica Smith, a business co-owner. "We are so grateful for the opportunity to work with Amanda and the entire team at Conway Regional to provide activities like this for our community."

She says part of the appeal of beer yoga is it is not intimidating. "For some people, yoga is a very spiritual practice, and that can be intimidating for others. Beer Yoga creates a more relaxed and social atmosphere." Castillo said the yoga and beer experience can also become a date night for couples. She added that the brewery offers non-alcoholic options.

Are you eager to experience this unique blend of yoga and socializing? If still available, tickets to the Sip & Cycle class on Sunday, January 21 may be purchased here. Tickets to any dates of the second series of beer yoga on February 17, March 9, and March 30 can be purchased here.
