Becka Langford, RN, is known as a strong patient advocate who goes to great lengths to care for her patients. For a nurse who serves in the Intensive Care Unit at Conway Regional, that can mean performing very difficult tasks.
Becka recently achieved the DAISY Award for exemplary nursing care, in part, based on her care for patients as they passed away. “Her patient was passing, and she didn’t want to be alone. Becka prayed with her and stayed with her even after her shift, so she did not pass alone,” read the nomination for the DAISY Award. Becka also provided the same care for a second patient. The nomination stated that “when Becka found out he was passing, she made sure she was there holding his hand, so he was not alone.”
Becka has worked three and half years in ICU at Conway Regional. The nomination reads “she treats everyone she works with like family.”
The international DAISY Award honors nurses who provide exemplary care for their patients. It includes a carved stone statuette, called the “Healer’s Touch,” of a nurse holding hands with a patient, an award certificate, cinnamon rolls, a reserved two-month parking spot, and rewards points.
